<\/p>\n

The ADDIE Model was developed by Florida State University in order to help train military personnel on new jobs<\/span>.<\/span> The original idea was to complete each step before moving along to the next, however the model has been updated to allow for a more agile and dynamic workflow.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

ANALYSIS<\/span><\/p>\n

In the analysis phase the course developer looks at the state of the learners prior knowledge, learning styles, and learning gaps in order to determine the learning goal of the course. These learning goals are called course learning outcomes, or CLOs. They need to be clear and measurable, aligned to course assignments, align with the mission of the course and they should include higher order and critical thinking skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

DESIGN<\/span><\/p>

In this phase the learning experience is planned by organizing and optimizing the sequence of the course content. Every activity and assessment in the course should serve a purpose and provide opportunities for students to engage in active learning. Assignments should evaluate the student\u2019s progress toward achieving the CLOs.<\/span><\/p>\n

DEVELOPMENT<\/span><\/p>\n

Development is the phase where the course content is curated and integrated into the course design structure. The modules, assignments, discussions, and assessments are all integrated with the learning resources in order to reinforce the course learning objectives.<\/span><\/p>\n

IMPLEMENTATION<\/span><\/p>\n

In the implementation phase the course is piloted with students in order to identify areas in need of improvement. Revisions can be made based on student performance and feedback.<\/span><\/p>\n

EVALUATIONS<\/span><\/p>\n

To evaluate the course, self-reflections and feedback from students and colleagues can be conducted. Student feedback can be collected from a survey or from asking directly in an interview. Evaluations can be most effective when they are deployed throughout the course. <\/span><\/p>\n
