We are very pleased to report that the 2nd round of peer tutor training on the “Healthcare and Nursing” course has been successfully completed!
The peer tutorial was developed by Valentina Pezer and Ulrike Tscherne as part of an optimization project for teaching and learning project support (LPF) and implemented in close cooperation with the Didactics Center. The LPF enables lecturers to utilize specific scope for development and opportunities for action in the area of teaching in order to promote high-quality teaching at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
The vision of the project leaders was “The long-term anchoring of peer tutoring in the health and nursing degree program in order to intensify learning support and thus create a student-centered offer while maintaining the same level of teaching resources. This enables students to learn from each other and to network with each other at an early stage. This allows resources to be used and synergies to be created.”
A tailor-made curriculum was developed that provided both technical and didactic support for the tutors during the semester. The offer was accepted with great interest and commitment by a total of eight tutors in the first round (winter semester 2022/23) and by six tutors in the second round (winter semester 2023/24) and integrated into the online and face-to-face tutorial units they designed themselves.
At a joint closing event, the tutors were presented with a certificate for their valuable work. The certificate, which can be submitted with future applications, proves the successful completion of the subject-specific and didactic accompanying courses amounting to 1.5 ECTS as well as the tutorial units held.
Everyone involved is looking forward to continuing the peer tutoring program in the future after an evaluation phase.
